Creating New Value from Plastic Waste

Beyond Conventional Mechanical Recycling

Not every plastic waste stream is equally suited to conventional mechanical recycling.

For selected materials, advanced recycling and pyrolysis provide alternative processing routes in which plastic waste is thermally converted into other potentially useful products.

Ant Spirits is developing this application area together with technology partners, supporting customers in evaluating suitable processing concepts according to their feedstock, capacity and project requirements.

Technology

What is Plastic Pyrolysis?

Pyrolysis is a thermal process used to decompose suitable plastic materials into different product fractions.

Unlike mechanical recycling, where the polymer is physically prepared, melted and reprocessed, pyrolysis uses thermal decomposition to transform suitable plastic feedstock. Depending on the technology, feedstock and operating conditions, the process can generate liquid, gaseous and solid output fractions.

Ant Spirits Approach

Feedstock Comes First

The performance of an advanced recycling process depends heavily on the characteristics of the incoming waste stream. Polymer composition, mixed-material content, contamination, available quantity and required outputs need to be understood before an appropriate technology route can be considered.

Ant Spirits works with customers and technology partners to understand these requirements and evaluate potential processing solutions.

Understand the waste stream first. Select the technology second.
